We have only discovered that we have two Muskrats living in our pond.

They are so cute, I have never seen them before and had no idea they are of the beaver family.

Here are a couple of photos of our cute little Muskrats.

No Wallaby they are a member of the beaver family and I stood rather close to take some photos and he/she just looked at me.  Have chatted to others and it is rather rare to see them where they are so we feel honored they have chosen our pond LOL

Lizzy I would say they have been here a while as they have a huge home built which is called a lodge. They also have another home on the other side of the pond. They can hold their breath for up to 15 mins when they dive. Amazing little critters.

Beautiful they look so peaceful. I wouldn't mind be able to hold my breath for one minute let alone 15.

Yes it is nice to sit on your porch and admire the wild animals around. Although these little guys have stolen my heart. I put out some banana's and they have eaten them. They mainly eat vegetation but I think the nana's were a real treat for them.

I have had a busy time cleaning out rooms today and finally getting rid of nearly all the boxes that had crap in them. Woooooot good feeling.

When you have a good look they don't really look like a rat do they? When you read Musk-rat you tend to think rat unless you know what it is.

You are so right their bodies are pudgy and their face is not rat like at all. Got that cute black nose.

No snow at all Dahls will prevent us getting out unless we get several feet of snow at one time and that ain't going to happen LOL s0097
