My wife's mum is not doing well so we are going home for a visit in September.
Probably the last time we will see her.
There will be 8 of us
6 adults and 2 children
Anyone have any ideas on a home rental in the Sydney area
We will need the place for 10-13 days
Current cost of hotel is too dear.
I'm scratching my head

| Have you thought about renting a home ? with 6 adults sharing im sure the cost would be cut right back. Also with a hotel and i have no idea if they even have these types in Australia but dont forget to look into extended stay hotels if they do have them because they work out real cheap ! The only other thing i can think of is if you can stay at someones place and take with you those air beds i know they weigh a bit but with the amount of money you will be saving will more than add up for having to buy clothes if you cant take many because of the weight. (just an idea)

| Wouldn't the extended stay hotels be for longer than 10-13 days only? The more im thinking about it its the case here (USA). The air beds is a good idea i guess you don't want to be staying in back packers lodgings?

Hotels and hostels seem to be out of the question
although I will be traveling to Canberra, most of the extended family will be in Sydney, best I can find so far is a home in Bulli Beach about an hour south for AU$1400/week

Here is another idea that might be worth looking into what about a caravan park ? when i say a caravan park in not meaning booking into a caravan because with that amount of people it would be tight but what about a cabin ? They would have them somewhere wouldn't they ? and some are very nice.
Had a quick look they are costly as well but you might find one that doesnt have the name that has the price tag to go along with it Last edited on Thu Apr 21st, 2011 05:27 pm by dahls

| I wish i could help but other than what others have said i wouldn't know where to begin. Is the $1400 a week for you all or based on per couple? if its for you all i don't think your going to get anything cheaper for the amount of people.

| $1400 if it is for you all a week is a darn good price remember its Sydney so i don't think your going to find much better than that. Being the Sydney area your going to be paying out big bucks no matter where you stay.
