I think we should all tell a story about something we did that no one would guess about us , like Den said her father was an Opera Singer.
I ran away to join the show circuit when I was 17 ( I was a nurse at the time )
During these years I met my Husband (ex) and worked for his Mother who was a member of a very well known show business family.
I learnt to do an act she bought from America performed by a man with no legs called Mr Zimmie.
I was Miss Zimmie then the name changed to Aqualee. I used to be sitting atop a large tank filled with water and when the house was full I would submerge and ....
1 eat a banana
2. Drink some milk
3. Smoke a cigarette
It was not an illision I really was under the water and holding my breath for each item. Of course there was a slight of hand (mouth ) to the cigarette but I can assure you it was a real one and alight as I used to have blisters like bunches of grapes on my lips after a big day of maybe 25 performances. I also had to get out after every 6-7 times and go vomit in a bucket as I would fill up on the milk and bananas.
During my years in this form of show business I did several other acts but thats another story.
So come on every one tell me a story.

I wanted to be a nun until puberty hit.
I wanted to be an archeologist
My father was a philanthropist and has a book he co-wrote in the Canberra War Memorial called Borneo Burlesque(only about 350 copies of the original printed, just for those who survived) about how the soldiers kept themselves sane during extreme war conditions. The book has since (last year) been rewritten in novel form by the daughter of one of the soldiers. My father's best friend went to war with him, was interned with him, and, up until dad died last year they had been best friends for 70 years. The following link is a bit of info about my father. He also started V.I.E.W clubs in Australia and was managing director of The Smith Family for many years

I don't think I've done anything spectacular to write about....
One thing I was proud about, I took piano exams through to Matriculation, with A+ for every exam, and I did top the state of South Australia with my music theory exam...but that isn't anything that is of interest to many...mainly just me and my mother lol..

The matric results were great, Den. Me, personally, well, I have never done anything to rave on about, wish I had. My best accomplishment has been my children but as far as me making a mark, nope.
Running away for the circus is a crack up....how cool. I bet if we all dug through our family history we'd find some really interesting stuff .
