Serves around 6

2 cups turnips, peeled and cubed
2 cups rutabagas, peeled and cubed
2 cups sweet potatoes, peeled and cubed
2 cups winter squash, peeled and cubed
3 tablespoons cider vinegar
3 tablespoons dark corn syrup
1 tablespoon butter or margarine, melted
1/3 cup packed brown sugar
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 1/2 teaspoons freshly grated ginger
1/4 cup chopped walnuts, toasted

Preheat oven to 400 °F.

Place vegetables in a large pot, cover with water, and cook about 20 minutes, or until tender, OR, steam over boiling water if you have a large steamer. Drain well. Place in a lightly greased 7x11-inch baking dish.
In a small bowl, combine vinegar, syrup, butter, brown sugar, salt and ginger. Pour over vegetables, and toss to coat.
Bake in preheated 400°F oven for 20 minutes basting occasionally.basting occasionally.
Stir, sprinkle with chopped nuts, and serve.
