.....and they STILL haven't come up with a yes or No.
You simply cannot reach a real person when you call and my application number brings up zilch on the computer system. Looks like the USCIS lost the damn thing.
I have contacted the offices of Congressman Jeff Flake (AZ) and Senator John McCain (AZ) and whilst they are sympathetic, they kinda shrugged and said "Please contact us again when the USCIS get in touch with you"
It's already been over 5 years in the works, What is this the Twilight Zone? p0099a
Anyway, shan't go into details right now. Just glad I can vent on here about these folks.

Well, it's got to the stage where I'm sure I'm just going to have to apply all over again. $400+ dollars, countless documents, hours in the immigration centers, fingerprints.. oh God I don't think I could handle all that again come to think of it.
I've got a copy of every document I have ever sent in. The Las Vegas office (I lived in Las Vegas until 2006) simply ignored every missive I have ever sent. I've sent things by courier, I've got signature confirmation blah blah... how on earth did they lose it? Las Vegas supposedly sent it to the office here in Phoenix to further process it, but I still haven't heard a peep. Goverment offices can always claim ignorance of any situation.
Oh well, I have 5 years still left on my 10 year Green Card, hopefully it will be cleared up by then. Yeah, and they be growing bananas on the moon.
I think yet another call to my Congressman and Senator is in order this week. Let's see if they have changed their tune. Yes, 5 plus years is ridiculous.

I had a similar experience with my ten year greencard. I spent hours waiting in line (back before they made appointments) only to be turned away cos they couldnt find me in the system and didnt know what to do about it.
One day I went back and got someone who said it was clearly lost and suggested I resubmit the paperwork (for the card - not the whole process) and I had my card in two weeks.
I applied for citizenship in California in October 2005 and was approved March 2006 so there is no reason for such a long delay - except that they lost the paperwork.
I would suggest re-applying and keeping copies of everything you send and sending it certified mail with return receipt.
Believe me - the hassle of not dealing with USCIS ever again is totally worth it LOL. And if they get it right its one of the easiest and least stressful processes you will go through with immigration.

Up until this happened, I'd been very lucky in everything to do with the USCIS, then it all went pear shaped. No problems with the Greencard, the residency, nothing. All went smoothly. I'd read about all the hassles other people had been through and thanked my lucky stars I wasn't one of those unfortunate souls who had fallen through the cracks.
Oh if only I'd known the trouble ahead.
Oh well, on the phone I go tomorrow.

So sorry to hear that you have had this problem.
I know you have probably tried the following but I mention them just in case you haven't:
One thought is to make an InfoPass appointment with your USCIS district office to find out what they know about your application.
Have you tried posting your problem on the VisaJourney Citizenship forum? Link is http://www.visajourney.com/forums/index.php?showforum=114&prune_day=100&sort_by=Z-A&sort_key=last_post&topicfilter=all&st=0
I have to agree with Shazza - it's really great to be rid of USCIS for good. I got my citizenship last Wednesday, after applying in March!

I visited that Visa Journey website and here is what I wrote: Amazing but true story:
Oh boy, I sure hope they find my application soon. Mine has been with them since January 2004. I went for my interview over 5 years ago in Las Vegas. I had an officer interview me who could best be described as arrogant and flustered. I dressed nicely, aced everything on the US history test and the English language questions, had all my documents ready, but after the interview just said "I'll be in touch" without giving me a reason why she couldn't approve it. She kept saying "Where you documents???? Where you documents? " Yes that was how she spoke, English was not her greatest talent. I'd politely point it out amongst the HUGE pile of documents in front of her, exactly where it was when she looked right at it just two minutes earlier. "You have no birth certificate??!! (I'd point it out........) "This no birth certificate!! she said she flipped it over and over " "It's British, I'd say, it probably doesn't look like the ones you normally see. (British birth certificates, at least in the 50's were rather large pink colored documents) Her eyes narrowed and she continued.. "Where you divorce certificate then huh?? (I'd flip a few pages on the tome in front of here ..'There it is" I'd say. I remember it a so clearly because it was surreal. I kid you not, this was how it all went. I couldn't believe it when she actually said at the end "You have kids? I replied casually " No, I've never really felt the urge" You no have kids?? You no want them? Why?? They are a gift from God..." Oh dear I thought, I'm sunk. If it had been going downhill already, now I was entering the black hole, never to escape.
And so it was. I waited three weeks, she still hadn't called. I arranged another meeting with her, she literally (and I MEAN literally) pushed me out the door. Put her hands on my back and shoved. Being the USCIS, I just rolled over (don't want to make a scene in their office with the armed guards, you understand) and went back outside with my tail between my legs, feeling very disheartened. I was totally confused by her behaviour and that was the last time I heard ANYTHING. She no longer answered my phone calls or the half dozen letters I personally to her. Despite repeated calls letters, phoning my Congressman (Geoff Flake Dem AZ) and Senator John Mccain (Rep AZ) I've still had zero action on it.
Sad but true. Anyway, that is my tale of woe. Luckily I have 5 years left on my 10 year Greencard. They way things have progressed so far, I'm gonna need every minute to sort this out.

That is so wrong on many levels Arizona Girl.
You should have received notification by mail that they received your app and money. From my application to interview took 5 months. I had my interview and then ceremony exactly one week later.
Did you move after the app went in or anything like that?
Your Senator SHOULD do something after all that is what we voted them in for.
Hubby contacted our Senator when I was having some 'issues' with USCIS and he was AWESOME. He even phoned when we were in DC to make sure all was going well. He said if you have any trouble phone me back and I WILL speak with some one. He was wonderful and really did help us.

Gee Arizonia_Girl i sure hope this gets sorted out soon for you its not as if its just been a few months.
I think another call wouldnt hurt one bit as well and keep on calling them if you have to.
I know these folks have to do a job and look after the country to a degree but to play god like some do is plain wrong ! What does it cost to let you know what the problem is or whatever ? The main cost is a bit of common courtesy this would give the said person less stress as well but i guess thats a bit much to ask for.
It still makes me mad when you read horror stories like this yet there is so many illegal immigrants still out there.
I think i need to calm down a bit.....lol.

when I went for my citizenship interview, I notified them that I would be moving states a couple of weeks later. My approval was delayed by a month due to them claiming they needed copies of my taxation documents which the guy said I was supposed to bring with me, even though the papers said nothing about this, they had copies in the original application for citizenship, and a phonecall to uscis also said it wasn't necessary...but because my husband was not with me, this is what the guy told me he wanted...
My file was sent to DC due to my moving to VA from TN, and then I heard nothing. Three months later, I contacted my local congressman, and within a few days, my file had been suddenly found, and a date had been set for my citizenship oath ceremony.
I would definitely be trying again, even perhaps contacting a citizenship lawyer. They lost it, they shouldn't expect you to pay the fees yet again, especially since they went up last year or the year before.

Well, I made a FastPass appointment for July 7th with the USCIS, to work out why it's taken them so long with my citizenship application. Wish me luck. Now I have to pull out all my old documents and blow off the dust. Be great if the could fast track it through because of the extended delay so far.
We shall see !
