The main reason I'm applying is so that I'm no longer accountable to USCIS for my movements. Also, it's good to take the financial pressure of sponsoring me off my husband. And it's more empowering (gives one more options and rights).
What about you? think_ing

Yes, my reasons are very similar to yours. So I wouldn't have to account to USCIS anymore. Also, if we were to move back to Australia at any time, I didn't want to have to be on time constraints. I wanted to be able to vote, and there were a couple of jobs I would love to try and get into later on down the road, but I couldn't unless I was a US citizen.
Next on the agenda is to have Emily's Australian citizenship completed.

Yeah I need to do mine to, just the money factor stopping me right now, I want to get all of Jacks stuff fixed first then I will go on and do mine.
I want to be able to vote and not have to worry about being tracked everywhere and the hassle when you come back through the airport.
Plus I feel like the US is a part of me now just like Oz is.

How much is it these days for the 10 year green card these days? I think I established it was actually cheaper to do the citizenship thing.
Having said that, I haven't checked in a while and would be interested in the updated comparative costs.

Paul i applied for my 10 year card back in February of 2008, it cost all up including the bio that had to be done yet again around $600.00.
Im not real sure but it was $480.00 or $580.00 plus the $80.00 for the bio
