So what is everyone doing? Are you really excited about it or do you just go along with "american" plans?
I love fireworks and can't wait to shoot some off. We're going to grill some hotdogs and hamburgers and let off fire works. It'll be just the family, four of us. My dogs will be inside, as they don't like the big bangs!
Hope everyone keeps all their digits

Last year we went to a party held by a married gay couple in our subdivision, one of the guys is a DJ and he had the best ever music playing all night. Also there was a guy there that had just come back from Iraq and before the fireworks went off he made a speech, which was VERY touching because he was thanking everybody for supporting the troops, I don't think there was a dry eye in the place.
So we are heading back there this year, they live right on the lake and they float a pontoon on which they let the fireworks go off, and it is a super display they spend 100s of dollars on it.

I love fireworks but we are still in a State that you can only have the little ones.
It gets me why States to State have to be different, i remember the first year i was here we lived in SC and we could have the good fireworks there, it was awesome.
But watching them is just as good, i dont think we are going or doing anything at this stage.

We are going to my BIL's family reunion again this July 4th. This time however, we will know to take a change of clothes, for they average around 700 water balloons to throw at everyone, and when they run out, some tend to resort to buckets of water, and remember that well water is much colder than town water...
I will get more involved this time because I found out that if we sit it out, we get picked on more...so this time I will have my own special water item to retaliate back with....This is going to be so much fun...can't wait.
Will more than likely have a camp fire that night when we get back from the reunion in the afternoon, and let off fireworks.

My first ever 4th of July - woohoo! Fireworks aplenty! Actually quite looking forward to all the festivities, it should be fun and interesting. I have been searching for local activities in the Macon area.... hmmm, so far not terribly much happening around these 'ol parts... Will have to buy heaps'n'heaps'n'heaps of fireworks and make up for all the years that we couldn't buy them (legally) in Victoria ...
I never really did grow up (The Wife reckons I've got Peter Pan Syndrome!)

I have three days off around the 4th July. Just gonna chill out, drink some refreshing ales, play some music and just be happy I'm not at work. I watch the fireworks on TV, I know it's not the same but I'm not a big one for crowds and smelly toilets :)
Maybe next year I can celebrate as a US citizen That will be a HUGE party!

3/24/2009 - ROBINS AIR FORCE BASE, Ga. -- Motown Legends "The Miracles" team up with the Band of the U.S. Air Force Reserve to launch Independence Day Concert celebration July 2 at McConnell-Talbert Stadium on South Davis Drive in Warner Robins.
"The Miracles' sweet sounds are loved throughout the world. And with the positive energy of these gentlemen, Miracles will continue to happen," Maj. Don Schofield, Band of the U.S. Air Force Reserve commander. "The Miracles' music stretches generations of fans, and yet songs like Tears of a Clown, Love Machine, and Shop Around are just as appreciated today during their 50th anniversary, as they were when the songs were first released."
The Miracles helped make Motown Records a familiar label. They were the first Motown group to bring the famous Detroit record company its first gold record by selling a million copies.
The free concert starts at 7 p.m. and features a night of music, fireworks and family entertainment. Festivities begin with the National Anthem and a scheduled F-15 flyover.
"Last year was a record-setting crowd, and this year we are expecting just as big an attendance for the Independence Day celebration," said Alan Tatman of the Warner Robins Civitan Club.
"Thanks to the generosity of local businesses and the talent of the Band of the U.S. Air Force Reserve, we have an incredible celebration planned. The Middle Georgia community will have front-row seating to a fireworks display that gets bigger and better every year. We encourage families to bring the kids and enjoy an amazing show."
Mr. Tatman recommends that everyone watch the show from inside the stadium as the fireworks are set to music, "making the spectacular display that much more stirring and enjoyable to watch."
The stadium bleachers offer seating; however, attendees are welcome to bring lawn chairs or blankets for seating on the infield. Food and beverages will be available at concession stands. Bags and containers are subject to search. No alcoholic beverages or glass containers are allowed at this family event. No pets allowed.Last edited on Thu Jun 25th, 2009 06:21 am by aussieca

| on Friday, Dennis, myself, Emily, my sil and bil are heading to Cave Springs VA, where there is a spring fed pond we are going swimming in. I'm bracing for the freezing temperature, as no sunlight gets in that area due to the tree coverage..but it should be fun.

We will be packing for our 5-day camping trip (we leave the following day), so I will miss the parade. I have watched it 2 years in a row, but missed it last year (for same reason as above).
We used up our "naughty" fireworks 2 years ago (purchased before OR banned them), but I am sure our street and those around us will be popping all sorts of loud stuff off, seeing WA is just 40 mins away.
